The Chestnut Community Alliance (CCA) is an active coalition of residents, joined by community providers and civic leaders, working together to make their neighborhood safe and healthy. CCA residents live in, or have ties to, the two neighborhoods surrounding the Holyoke Public Library and Library Commons, the Way Finders affordable housing development.

Inspired—and led by—residents of Holyoke

The alliance began with a cohort of Holyoke residents who attended the 2015 NeighborWorks Community Leadership Institute. These resident leaders were motivated by their training to do a series of community cleanups in their neighborhood—and then wanted to stay involved in community engagement after the conclusion of their events. The group they formed is resident-led and supported by the Way Finders Community Building & Engagement team.

Join us for a monthly bilingual meeting for residents

The Chestnut Community Alliance meets monthly (the third Thursday of each month, at 5 p.m.) and is open to Holyoke residents, especially those with ties to the neighborhoods framed by Appleton, Elm, Chestnut, and Sargaent streets. The group discusses current issues (such as regarding public safety and quality of life), learns updates from community providers, and plans neighborhood events.

Meet neighbors + join the movement: Neighborhood Walks!

This activity is weather permitting. Groups will reconvene in the Spring 2022

Way Finders and members of the Chestnut Community Alliance, including other community partners, come together a few times per month to meet one another and get eyes on the ground—and in the streets—to see where and what the neighborhoods’ issues are.

Our Neighborhood Walks start at the Holyoke Public Library parking lot (time varies, both during the day and in the evenings). Look for the blue T-shirts worn by our Way Finders team!
