Community Building and Engagement Manager - Springfield

Beatrice or Bea, as she is known to all, has more than 20-years of experience in communications and community engagement work in Greater Springfield. At Way Finders, she manages the Healthy Hill Initiative, a collaboration working to improve the health and well-being of residents of Springfield’s Old Hill neighborhood through public safety initiatives, physical activity, youth engagement, and healthy food access.

She is the former director of marketing and community engagement for the Mason Square Health Task force, where she worked to advance health equity and lessen the impact of racial health disparities in the four neighborhoods that comprise Mason Square. Her work included the JUST FOOD healthy food access initiative and development of the Task Force fitness campaign. She was also a key member of the LiveWell Springfield marketing team.

Previously, Beatrice also worked for Holyoke Community College in marketing and public relations, and for more than 18 years was employed as a reporter for The Republican newspaper. She has won numerous awards for her reporting work on local and state politics, city government, religion, business and community news and enterprise reporting. When she is not working, Bea enjoys spending time with her family and has a special affinity for live music, the arts and travel.
